Is it free to post volunteer opportunities?
No. In order to post on govolunteer.ca, your organization must be a govolunteer.ca subscriber. Contact Vantage Point, Volunteer Burnaby or Community Volunteer Connections for more information. If your organization or resource centre is located outside Metro Vancouver, email us at
Who is eligible to post?
Registered not-for-profits, charities, trade unions, professional associations and government organizations are eligible to post.
How do I post a volunteer position?
- Click “post” on the govolunteer.ca homepage.
- Log into your govolunteer.ca account using your email address as your user name. Remember - the system is case sensitive.
- Select “post a volunteer role” or “post a board role”. Fill in the available fields and click submit.
- Once your posting is approved it will go live on the advertising start date specified.
I forgot my log in and password, what should I do?
- Click here to obtain a new password.
- If you are not able to obtain a new password, contact the local govolunteer.ca provider which grants your organization access to govolunteer.ca. Click here for a list of BC govolunteer.ca providers.
I have submitted my position but it is not online. Why?
- All new postings are reviewed by our staff to ensure quality. If you post between Monday and Friday morning, your position will be reviewed within 24 hours.
- Once approved, your posting will go live on the advertising start date you specified. If this date is in the future, your position will not appear on the site until that date.
My position has expired. How can I re-post it?
- Log in to govolunteer.ca.
- Click on view historical postings and select the position you would like to renew.
- Change the advertising start and end dates to reflect the new dates you’d like the position to appear on the site.
- Click submit and you are done!
I have been notified my position is about to expire. How can I renew it?
- Follow the link in the email you received to log in to your govolunteer.ca account.
- Click on view historical postings and select the position you would like to renew.
- Change the advertising start and end dates to reflect the new dates you’d like the position to appear on the site.

Do you provide a list of available volunteers?
No. govolunteer.ca does not provide a database of volunteers.
Can individuals find/recruit volunteers to assist them?
No. Individuals are not eligible to post positions on govolunteer.ca.
Can businesses or for-profit organizations post volunteer positions?
No. govolunteer.ca only allows not-for-profit organizations to post volunteer roles. However, If your business is planning a special event or project that benefits a not-for-profit organization, please contact us at to discuss your eligibility.
