The role of VCH is to govern, manage and deliver quality healthcare services to people living on the North Shore/ coast Garibaldi, in Vancouver and Richmond, and to all British Columbians requiring highly specialized health services.A 1150 bed, acute care, teaching and referral, extended care hospital for adults and seniors.

Description: |
***NOTE: This position takes place at the Community Gardens at the George Pearson Centre at 57th Ave & Heather St- Not at VGH**
-To share gardening experiences with residents -young adults with physical disabilities in group horticultural programs.
The program provides residents with sensory and cognitive stimulation, involvement in familiar and new activities, social interaction and opportunities to strengthen self-esteem.
Program takes place TUESDAYS 1:30- 4:30pm

Skills and Experience: |
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Interest in supporting residents whose own communication skills may be compromised due to disability.
-Interest in therapeutic programming and appreciation for the therapeutic value of gardening.
-Some gardening and /or crafts experience is appreciated, but not required.
-Comfortable working with persons with physical disabilities.

General orientation to Pearson Centre.
Working under direction of Recreation Therapist & horticulture therapist. |
